LOGISTICAL INFORMATION

The winter meeting of the National Association of State Workforce Investment Board Chairs will be held at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel, located at 999 Ninth Street, NW, Washington, DC. 202-898-9000 The hotel is located downtown, within five miles of Reagan National Airport, and an easy 4-block walk from the Metro Center subway station (Blue, Orange, and Red lines at 11th or 12th streets). The meeting is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, February 27th with an opening lunch and will conclude on Sunday, February 28th by 1:00 p.m. The registration for State Workforce Investment board Chairs will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. A special pre-meeting session will be held on Saturday, February 27 from 8-10 a.m. to provide an informal exchange on pressing WIA implementation issues. If you plan to attend this special session, please indicate this on the attached registration form.

MEETING REGISTRATION

The registration fee is $150.00. If you request billing to your office, an administration charge of $25.00 will be assessed. Refunds of the registration fee will be provided for cancellations made in writing. However, they are subject to a $50 fee to cover administrative costs. No refunds will be provided for cancellations made after February 19. Substitutions are allowed at any time and at no charge. HOTEL RESERVATIONS

Please make your hotel reservation at the Renaissance as soon as possible. The rooms are held in conjunction with NAPIC at a group rate of $169/single or $194/double. Applicable taxes of 13% and $1.50 per night city occupancy tax will apply to all reservations. Each reservation needs to be secured with a credit card or one night's deposit. Hotel reservations and charges are the responsibility of the individual participant.

To secure accommodations, contact the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel directly at 202/898-9000 and request the NAPIC meeting rate as stated above. The cut-off date for NAPIC rates at the hotel is Friday, February 5, 1999.

Lodging at the Renaissance Washington D. C. may be limited due to an increase in registrants for the 1999 NAPIC Forum. NAPIC also has room blocks at the following hotels that are available to participants in the State Workforce Boards Chairs meeting.

GENERAL HOTEL INFORMATION

At the Renaissance, check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and checkout is 12:00 p.m. Group members staying in their rooms beyond the checkout time without hotel authorization will be charged for an additional room night.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

There are three airports serving the Washington metropolitan area: Reagan National Airport (National), Dulles International (Dulles), and Baltimore/Washington International (BWI).

The Renaissance is 15-20 minutes (five miles) from National Airport; one-way taxi fare is approximately $10.00-$12.00. Also from National, you can take the Washington Metro (subway) Blue or Orange Line train to the Metro Center station, (located at 11th and 12th Streets), approximately 4 blocks from the Renaissance.

From Dulles, the one-way taxi fare is $50.00 and takes approximately 40-45 minutes (30 miles). An alternative method from Dulles is to take the Washington Flyer Shuttle Bus to 15th and K Streets, NW ($17.00), then take a taxi to the hotel (10 blocks, approximately $6.00).

The Washington Flyer also services BWI and uses the same destination (15th and K Streets), as the Dulles shuttle. Taxi from BWI is approximately $55.00 each way and can take in excess of 60 minutes (40 miles).

If you drive, the hotel has valet parking at $15.00 per day for overnight guests.
